Moira is a Turkish restaurant on Mastmaker Road in Canary Wharf, a short walk from South Quay DLR, and one of the best-known Anatolian grills on the Isle of Dogs. Moira Canary Wharf describes its cooking as rooted in Anatolian heritage, with family recipes and a charcoal grill at the centre of the kitchen.

The menu covers the full Turkish table: hot and cold meze selections, red lentil soup and börek, then Adana kebab, lamb shish, chicken köfte and beyti from the grill, plus İskender served over pitta with tomato sauce and yoghurt. Large mixed grills for two or four suit groups, and there are seafood, salad and pasta options for anyone who wants something lighter.

With a ground-floor dining room, an upstairs space and set menus for groups, it works well for office lunches, celebrations and relaxed weeknight dinners close to the towers of Canary Wharf.

What to order at Moira

A good order here mixes a meze selection with something from the charcoal grill:

  • Adana kebab – seasoned minced lamb with peppers, onion and parsley, grilled over charcoal
  • Lamb shish – marinated cubes of lamb cooked on the mangal
  • Lamb beyti kebab – minced lamb wrapped in flatbread, served on yoghurt with Anatolian sauce
  • Adana İskender – Adana kebab over pitta with tomato sauce and yoghurt
  • Hot meze selection – börek, hellim, mücver, sucuk and falafel
  • Cold meze selection – hummus, cacık, ezme, stuffed vine leaves and babaganoush
  • Mercimek çorbası – red lentil soup served with bread
  • Baklava – filo layers with crushed pistachio in syrup

Atmosphere and good to know

Moira has a ground-floor dining room near the charcoal grill and an upstairs room that is used for larger groups and festive bookings, with some seating outside. It opens from midday every day and is busy with Canary Wharf office workers at lunch and in the evening.

The restaurant states that it is halal certified. Vegetarians are well covered by the cold meze, börek and lentil soup. Bookings can be made on the website; parties of eight or more are asked to call. A discretionary 12.5% service charge is added.

Moira opening hours

Monday to Saturday: 12:00–22:30; Sunday: 12:00–22:00. Hours can change on bank holidays, so check with the restaurant before you travel.
