Best Turkish restaurants in west and north-west London
Some of the most popular Turkish restaurants in west London and the north-west are neighbourhood places rather than West End destinations: big family grills by the Tube, brunch spots and charcoal ocakbaşı rooms that have fed the same streets for twenty years or more. Others are polished dining rooms near Harrods and in Cockfosters.
This guide runs from Knightsbridge and Earl’s Court out to Park Royal and Wembley, then north through Harrow, Edgware and Colindale to Finchley and Cockfosters at the end of the Piccadilly line. Every one of these Turkish restaurants in west London and beyond is a place diners rate highly, and each name links to its listing with hours, menus and directions. New to the grill? Our ocakbaşı guide explains the style.
Knightsbridge and Earl’s Court
The Mantl, Brompton Road, Knightsbridge
A short walk from Harrods, The Mantl has served modern Turkish food on Brompton Road since 2019 and takes its name from mantı, small dumplings that are the heart of the menu. Order the mantı with garlic yoghurt and pepper oil or feraye, crispy dumplings with tomato sauce and smoked yoghurt, then muhammara (roasted pepper and walnut dip) with crispy simit, Adana (spiced hand-minced lamb) or lamb cutlets from the charcoal. Finish with künefe, warm shredded pastry with melted cheese and syrup.
All meat is halal, and wine, champagne, cocktails and mocktails are served. It’s open from noon to 11pm daily, with a private dining area; book through OpenTable at weekends. Knightsbridge station is about six minutes’ walk.
ANA Turkish Restaurant, Old Brompton Road, Earl’s Court
Between Earl’s Court and West Brompton stations, ANA is a halal grill popular with locals and visitors staying in the area’s hotels. Start with hummus, hellim (grilled halloumi) and falafel, then order Adana köfte, lamb şiş (skewered lamb) or Ali Nazik, lamb şiş on smoky aubergine and garlic yoghurt. The house special platters feed two to five. It’s open from noon to 11pm every day; call ahead for larger groups.

The bar serves rakı, wine, beer and cocktails, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes are marked, including a vegan kebab. It opens at 11am on weekdays and 10am at weekends, until 11:30pm, and bookings go through SevenRooms. Park Royal station is about five minutes’ walk.

Beer and wine are served, including a Turkish draught and Turkish bottles. It’s open from 11am until midnight, or 1am on Fridays and Saturdays; walk-ins are the norm, though it gets busy on event days.
Harrow, Edgware and Colindale
Aysu Restaurant Harrow, Charlton Road, Kenton
On the Harrow and Kenton borders, Aysu is the first restaurant in a small local group whose story began in 2007. The name joins two Turkish words, ay (moon) and su (water). The menu covers the classics: kuzu şiş, Adana kebab, döner, a karışık meze (mixed meze platter) of hummus, babagannuş (smoky aubergine dip) and cacık, and yaprak sarma, vine leaves stuffed with rice. It’s open from 11am to 11pm daily; book by phone at weekends, and ask the team about halal meat and drinks.
Melissa Edgware, Whitchurch Lane, Canons Park
Right beside Canons Park station, Melissa was named Best Turkish Restaurant in North and West London at the TURTA Awards in 2023. It’s an ocakbaşı, a restaurant built around an open charcoal grill: order the mixed meze, karışık şiş (mixed lamb and chicken skewers) and the house sharing platter of grilled meats. The restaurant displays a halal logo and also serves beer, wine and cocktails. Open from noon daily, until 11:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with highchairs for families; a sister restaurant is on Station Road in Harrow.
Izgara Edgware, Station Road, Edgware
Two minutes from Edgware station, Izgara Edgware is a long-standing local choice for charcoal-grilled kebabs in a warm, relaxed dining room. Start with cacık (cucumber and mint in garlic yoghurt) and sigara böreği, cigar-shaped filo pastries filled with feta, then Adana köfte, lamb or chicken şiş, or kuzu sote, lamb sautéed in the house sauce. Lara Kitchen, Charcot Road, Colindale
A couple of minutes from Colindale station, Lara Kitchen is one of the most-reviewed Turkish restaurants in north-west London. Beyond the şiş and Adana, look for chef’s specials such as haşlama, a slow-cooked Black Sea style stew, sarma beyti (minced kebab wrapped in lavash flatbread) and Ali Nazik. Cold meze include imam bayıldı, aubergine braised with onion and tomato. Sharing platters feed up to six, there’s a kids menu and a weekday lunch menu, and drinks are served.
