Stone Cave is a Turkish restaurant on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, serving food from breakfast through to late dinner since 2002. Stone Cave Dalston takes its name from the interior: stone-effect seating, coloured lanterns hanging from the ceiling and a cosy, cavern-like dining room.

The all-day menu runs from Turkish-inspired brunch, think menemen, sucuk toasties and baklava-style waffles, to classic hot and cold meze, falafel, calamari and charcoal-grilled kebabs in the evening. A separate bar list covers cocktails, beer and wine.

It suits a lazy weekend brunch, a relaxed dinner with friends and bigger celebrations, with a private dining section for up to 50 guests and a dedicated party menu. There is a kids’ menu too, so families are well looked after.

What to order at Stone Cave

These are the dishes to look for, at brunch or at dinner.

  • Menemen – soft-scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers, a Turkish breakfast staple
  • Sucuk toastie – toasted sandwich with spicy Turkish beef sausage
  • Baklava waffles – brunch waffles inspired by the pistachio pastry
  • Ispanaklı börek – spinach and feta pastry parcels
  • Kalamar – fried calamari from the hot meze list
  • Falafel – crisp chickpea fritters, a vegetarian favourite
  • Mixed kebab – a selection of charcoal-grilled meats with rice and salad

Atmosphere and good to know

The dining room is atmospheric and a little quirky, with stone-effect booths and lanterns, plus outdoor seating at the front. It works for couples and families, and there is a kids’ menu. Larger groups are well catered for, and the private section takes parties of up to 50, with a set party menu.

Breakfast and brunch are served from 10am daily. The bar serves cocktails, beer and wine, and the venue lists live music among its features. Vegetarian dishes are clearly available. Halal status is not published, so ask staff. Book online through the website, especially for weekend brunch.

Stone Cave opening hours

Monday to Saturday: 10:00–midnight; Sunday: 10:00–23:00. Hours can change on bank holidays, so check with the restaurant before you travel.
