Leydi is a modern Turkish restaurant on Old Bailey in the City of London, on the ground floor of the Hyde London City hotel in the Grade II-listed Spiers & Pond building. Leydi City of London brings Istanbul’s all-day eating culture to the Square Mile, with a menu created by chef Selin Kiazim, formerly of Oklava.
The day starts with Turkish breakfast from 7am, then moves on to meze, fresh breads and börek baked in the stone oven, and mangal-grilled meat and fish in the evening. Expect dishes such as lahmacun, çiğ köfte, balık ekmek, shish köfte and a mixed grill for two, followed by künefe. Weekend brunch, including a bottomless option, runs on Saturdays and Sundays.
With two large dining rooms, a bar and cocktails made with Turkish ingredients, it suits business lunches, date nights and groups who want a polished, contemporary take on Turkish cooking.
Mix a few meze and breads with something from the mangal, and leave room for dessert:
Leydi has a large main dining room with an open kitchen, a second room with sofa seating, and a small bar, with the Black Lacquer bar downstairs. It is open from 7am for breakfast, closes on Sunday afternoons, and runs brunch at weekends. The dress code is business casual.
Cocktails, raki and wine are served, alongside an alcohol-free list. Chicken and wagyu beef are halal; the lamb is not. Vegan and gluten-free options are available, and dogs are welcome. Book through SevenRooms, or email for groups.
Monday to Saturday: 07:00–23:00; Sunday: 07:00–15:00. Hours can change on bank holidays, so check with the restaurant before you travel.
St Paul’s Underground station (Central line) is about a 5-minute walk, and City Thameslink is around 3 minutes away. Blackfriars (District, Circle and Thameslink) is roughly 8 minutes south. Buses 4, 11, 15 and 26 stop on nearby Ludgate Hill.
