Mersin Tantuni is a Turkish street-food restaurant on Stoke Newington Road in Dalston, built around one of southern Turkey’s favourite snacks: tantuni. Named after the coastal city of Mersin where the dish comes from, it is one of the most highly rated Turkish restaurants in east London.
Tantuni is finely chopped meat cooked on a wide, shallow griddle with a splash of water and spices, then wrapped tightly in thin lavaş bread with tomato, onion and parsley. It is quick, light and full of flavour, and Mersin Tantuni serves it in several ways.
What to order at Mersin Tantuni
Start with the dish the restaurant is named after, then add meze and a dessert:

Atmosphere and good to know
The restaurant is small, cosy and women-owned, with indoor and outdoor seating and a counter for quick takeaway. Prices are friendly, it is open until midnight every day and there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Saturday evenings are the busiest time.

Mersin Tantuni is at 11 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 8BH, next to EartH Hackney. Dalston Kingsland Overground station is about a five-minute walk and Dalston Junction is close by. Buses along Kingsland High Street stop outside.
