Goda is a Turkish grill house on Ballards Lane in Finchley, recognisable by the rotisserie at the front window turning chickens and lamb over the coals. Goda Finchley opened in 2023 and has built a strong following on Ballards Lane since.

Meat is the focus: rotisserie chicken, lamb neck and lamb ribs from the grill, with a jacket potato baked in the coals on the side. For celebrations, a whole roast lamb that feeds up to ten can be pre-ordered. Starters include ezme, cacık and a mixed meze, with baklava to finish.

The dining room has old film-star photographs on the walls and a bar serving cocktails and wine, so it works for a dinner with friends as well as a family feast.

Atmosphere and good to know

Goda has a theatrical feel, with a rotisserie at the entrance, a red carpet and black-and-white photographs of film stars on the walls. It opens daily from 12pm to 11pm, and tables can be booked online, which is advisable on weekend evenings.

The Goda Bar serves cocktails and a wine list, along with Efes beer. Large-format dishes such as the whole lamb, lamb’s head and quail need to be ordered in advance, making it a good option for group celebrations.

Goda opening hours

Monday to Sunday: 12:00–23:00. Hours can change on bank holidays, so check with the restaurant before you travel.
