Mezze On The Green Woodford is a Turkish restaurant and bar on Johnston Road in Woodford Green, just off the High Road and the green that gives it its name. Also known as Mezze Ocakbaşı, it is a popular neighbourhood spot for charcoal grills, a long meze list and cocktails.

Meals start with homemade bread and chilled meze such as humus, tarama, cacık, patlıcan soslu and beetroot tarator, or hot starters including lahmacun, imam bayıldı, sucuk with hellim and grilled octopus. From the ocakbaşı come lamb shish, mix grill and sarma beyti, while chef’s specials include yoğurtlu kebab and a slow-cooked kleftiko.

Woodford station on the Central line is about an 11-minute walk east of the restaurant. Bus routes 179 and 275 run along the High Road in Woodford Green and stop a short walk away, linking it with Chingford, Walthamstow and Ilford.
